Who doesn’t love a challenge every now and then?
Well, the July Teacher Challenge from Skillshare grabbed my attention and I duly stepped up to the mark. The plan was to create and upload your first online teaching class in one of a number of categories that the Skillshare platform covers…Creative / Business / Lifestyle / Technology.
With weekly milestones including designing a course cover image and writing & filming an introduction to me as a teacher, followed by the actual class outline and creation, there was a steep learning curve and plenty of deadlines, which we designers tend to thrive on.
It started well and I even won an award for the first challenge –
But then things slowed up at the filming stage as I tried to get both good screen recordings and quality sound recording to support them. With only a couple of days to go my house-sitting ‘holiday’ in Bath became a race to the deadline of midnight 31st July – fortunately that was US time so I had a good 6 hours extra and crossed the finish line with 12 hours to spare.
Next up was marketing the course and letting everyone know it’s live and out there, so if you want to pick up a few ‘Designer Tips for Awesome Photos’ check out my class on the Skillshare.com online platform. There’s loads of great teaching in short, manageable bites on everything a creative or business entrepreneur would want to know more about. And each course is broken down into short ‘chapters’ so you can jump to specific skills or skip stuff you already know.
Interested? – well, here’s a referral link that will give you 2 FREE months to check it out – and while you’re there, have a look at ‘Designer Tips for Awesome Photos’
